Mike Petersen

Special Agricultural Trade Envoy

Agricultural market access is always the biggest sticking point in any FTA negotiations. How will this play out when it comes to the FTA’s with the EU and UK? What will be the biggest sensitivities and what trade-offs are likely? As a farmer and industry leader in New Zealand, Mr Petersen is well positioned to answer these questions. Drawing on his considerable farming and private sector experience, Petersen works to promote a greater understanding of New Zealand’s agricultural sector interests, including dairy, meat, wool, horticulture and wine, from the perspective of a practicing farmer – he owns and operates a finishing farm in Hawke's Bay, which he has managed since the late 1980s
